Contaminated Land
With increasing concern over environmental problems caused by contaminated
land – sometimes called ‘brownfield’ sites – you may want
specific information on a particular area, or general reassurance about the risk
of local mining subsidence, etc.
There is a national database being established
where this type of information should be more readily available. For details of
the SiteCheck and EnviroCheck service contact the Landmark Information Group on
01392 441700, or visit its web-site www.landmarkinformation.co.uk.
The
Government is shortly to change the way property is sold with a mandatory Home
Information Pack (q.v.) being available for applicants to inspect. Although the
final Regulations are still be drafted, it is almost certain that an Environmental
Report will be one of the necessary documents. In most areas it will mention matters
like flood risk and pollution levels but will be more important for brownfield
developments and areas with a history of mining activity.
